Blood tests & The Doctor's Laboratory

A blood test leaves the clinic as a request and comes back as a report somebody has to read, file against the right patient and act on. VeriPath Health Clinics runs both ends of that: the order is raised on the patient's record, and the report, when it arrives, files itself onto the same record.

The order is raised from the record

Choose Log Lab Order on the patient's record and tick the tests — full blood count, urea and electrolytes, liver function, HbA1c, lipids, thyroid, vitamin D. The order is saved against that patient and the clinician who asked for it. Their name and date of birth copy into the TDL portal in one click, so nothing is retyped into the lab's own system, and the reference from the printed TDL form is scanned back into the order. Until the results come back it sits there as pending, so nothing is quietly forgotten.

The results arrive on their own

TDL emails the encrypted report to the practice's own results mailbox. The app checks that mailbox every five minutes, decrypts the report with the practice's own password, reads it, and works out which patient it belongs to from the name and date of birth on it.

Certain, it files itself — uncertain, it waits for a person

A confident match files the report onto the record without anyone touching it. When the match is not certain the report goes to Verify & File instead, with the candidate patients set beside it and the decision left to the practice.

The numbers, not just another PDF

Each test is stored with its value, its unit and the range it should fall in, and anything outside that range is flagged.

On the record, with the report behind it

The order closes as filed, and the report sits on the patient's record beside every other one, with the PDF a click away.

The report stays the practice's own

The mailbox, the password that opens the reports and the reports themselves belong to the practice. Nothing is pooled with a vendor, and the result of a blood test is not left sitting in somebody else's system waiting to be collected.
